Registration grants for the XI AEAL Conference, Seville September 2025

Registration grants for the XI AEAL Conference, Seville September 2025

Presentation

The Association for the Study of Language Acquisition (AEAL) is aware of the importance of supporting research on language acquisition in cases where researchers come from countries with limited research funding, especially from the “Global South”. In this way, in order to promote and encourage the exchange of research results beyond the European context, AEAL announces a limited number of grants for the enrolment of the next AEAL congress. These grants will be used to cover the registration of AEAL members who do not have enough budget to pay for attendance at the congress.

Conditions

  • The call is aimed at researchers belonging to AEAL who do not have sufficient sources of funding to pay for attendance at the XI AEAL congress.
  • Applicants must have accepted a proposal to be presented during the congress and be up to date with the payment of the association’s fee at the time of applying for the grant.
  • The total amount of the grant per person is the price of early registration of a member to the XI AEAL congress (Seville).
  • The grant will be transferred directly to the congress once the registration has been received. AEAL is not responsible for registering, so beneficiaries must register before 15 May (early registration).
  • Beneficiaries must attend the congress in person.
  • They must mention the support of AEAL in any publication or activity related to the presentation at the congress.
  • If, for any reason, they are unable to attend the conference, they must indicate this as soon as possible so that it can be assigned to another application.

How to apply for the grant

Awaring publication

The AEAL Board of Directors will review that the requirements are met, will priorise applications taking into account reasoned reports and will award the grant.

The assessment criteria will be as follows:

  • Country of origin (country in the Global South and per capita income of the country, among other values).
  • Time as a member at AEAL.
  • Type and interest of the presentation.
  • Assessment of the available financial means.
  • Time since the Ph.D (or predoctoral student), prioritizing new researchers.

The resolutions will be notified to the applicants and will be published on the AEAL website.
